So, I would like to know about your music preferences. What do you listen to? Preferred listening? (i.e. Concerts, headphones, scaring the neighbours by singing along to the stereo.) All about the music you like and how you like it.

This is what I've been listening to most often lately to drown out the clamor of hypocrisy at work. Mostly trance/techno. I listen to a lot of other stuff, but that's my current kick.
  2.
Is it odd that I'm never quite sure how to answer this question?

I guess I like a lot of 80's stuff, and will just about listen to anything that's not country, don't listen to much rap either.

Anything with a haunting melody is usually an instant win for me, and I have an odd fondness for a lot of oldies, not the least of reasons being that they make interesting "unintentional" horror soundtracks.

    Llinks to some all-time favs.

K-OS. Nice blend of old and new schools. Damn good, just ignore the god references.
Pretty Girls Make Graves. C'mon, they named their band after a Smiths song.
When you need to up your cred, drop "Cat Power."
Joe Jackson. This song got me listening to music.
Hieroglyphics. This song got me listening to hip hop. Saw them live at The Brickworks here in Chico. They threw weed into the audience. It ruled. Also check out Del's solo work. No that's not the real video, ignore it, listen to the song.

And that's all I can think of right now. Me, I like to listen to my hard/heavy music on loud stereo speakers, but my funky/groovy/paschey stuff on subtle headphones.

I'll admit it, I'm an old school punk rocker.I know my Dead Kennedys and Sex Pistols and Misfits. However, Shaun's gotten me into some more goth stuff in the past few years. I'm still not down with the techno-goth sound some have going on, and I'm still more of a fan of the older stuff like Bauhaus and Velvet Underground. Although I'm really starting to like a lot of the goth artists that Projekt picks up, like Voltaire and Jill Tracy. Anything with a more cabaret/ burlesque feel, too, I love. Hence the post on the Dresden Dolls.

But then there's the Nerdcore. There's a wide range of music here, from horrible audio they must have tried to fuck up, to the excellent quality of Front's new stuff and what Optimus Rhyme puts out. But most of it is good, and if it's not good, its at least amusing. Beefy, Shael Riley and the Grammar Club offer a mix of both.

Then there's my penchant for bands like what the Zombie brothers play in, some of that dirty sounding rock. Some bands like Disturbed and Offspring infrequently make my play list, most likely to be usurped by Sinatra and Dean. :)

Try looking for a Bad Brains video where the stage, about 12 people, and a bottle of Vodka catches on fire. I laughed so fucking hard at that.

This woman is fantastic. She came up on Pandora a few days back and I've been listening to her stuff way too much in the last few days. Enough so that I just went and bought the album.

I did listen to it, and though it is not my cup of tea (tea is my cup of tea), it was very good. Got some talent, at the very least. It added some colour to my playlist too. Because all I really had for a while was Punk, Punk, Metal, more Punk, and goofy songs about monkeys and hockey.

This is an amazing song. I would recommend listening to it when you're not busy with something else, so you can give the lyrics the attention they deserve. And I say that as somebody who doesn't usually give two shits about lyrics.
